Stockport Council failed to support a vulnerable adult who lived in a council-managed supported tenancy, a report by the Local Government Ombudsman says today.
When an allegation was made against the man by another tenant, it failed to comply with the legal requirement to support him when he was interviewed by the police.
The council has agreed to pay compensation as well as providing staff training and improving its procedures.
The council accepted that its staff did not fully understand either its all-agency adult protection policy or the implications of the term ‘vulnerable adult’.
