Manchester Council has been named today as the best council employer of lesbian and gay people in Britain.
Charity Stonewall placed Manchester in the overall joint third position with the Greater London Authority in its index of the top 100 employers for gay people.
Among councils, Manchester was closely followed by Brighton and Hove, Sheffield, Nottinghamshire and Bath and North East Somerset.
Overall, 23 councils were included on the list, making local government the
best represented sector.
Nacro came top among charities in fifth place overall, followed by St Mungo’s and Barnardo's.
The Disability Rights Commission was rated 33rd in the overall list.
