The General Social Care Council will today unveil the first reports from its review into the role of social workers.
It will produce a literature review and a report of a stakeholder event on the issue, and announce a series of events, where invited practitioners and other interested parties will discuss how the profession should evolve.
A full public consultation on the review is anticipated in March.
The study was commissioned by the Department of Health and Department for Education and Skills following the report of the Options for Excellence review into the whole social care workforce.
