The government is to launch four pilots to test behavioural therapy and intensive family support for young people with mental health and conduct disorder problems.

Pilot sites will be announced by May and the first services will be opened in January 2008, according to a progress report published last week into the government's social exclusion action plan.

The report also announced a review into family support for families with additional or complex needs. The review will look at how well services aimed at at-risk children and adults are working together on the ground and will publish findings this summer.

Pilots to test improved support services for adults facing chronic exclusion will be announced in May, the report said.
