Two thousand public sector commissioners in councils, the NHS, job centres, prisons and probation will receive training on understanding the third sector in a £2m scheme, the government announced today.
Third sector minister Ed Miliband said the Improvement and Development Agency would run the programme, which is designed to ensure voluntary sector bodies’ potential in designing and delivering services is fully recognised by commissioners.
The plan was first announced in the Cabinet Office’s third sector action plan, published last December.
