Chancellor Gordon Brown has pledged an extra £340m for Sure Start children’s centres, childcare and early years provision by 2010-11.
The increase was announced following a Treasury and Department for Education and Skills review of children and young people that finished yesterday.
The review included plans for increased investment in a new advice and guidance service for parents and help for 30,000 families at risk.
