Labour has pledged a “crackdown on yobs and criminals” by “getting tough” on serious and persistent offenders in the run-up to next month’s local elections.
In its local election briefing Labour criticises the Conservatives for “talking tough and voting soft” on crime, and says Labour councils issue more antisocial behaviour orders than Tory and Liberal Democrat authorities..
The Liberal Democrats also put crime high on their agenda, while their election manifesto highlights the “innovative” use of acceptable behaviour contracts instead of Asbos by Liberal Democrat council Islington.
