Charity Citizens Advice is running an online survey this month to give people their say on tax credit overpayment problems.

It is hoped that the findings will help Citizens Advice’s campaigning on the issue. Last year the charity’s bureaux dealt with more than 150,000 tax credit problems, many of which were caused by “unacceptable levels of official error”.

Citizens Advice social policy officer John Wheatley said:  “We want to find out what people really think about tax credits and whether any difficulties they have experienced would make them reluctant to claim again. 

“The results of the survey will also give us a clearer idea of how people have been affected and what they think should be done.”
