A youth workforce strategy will be produced by the Children’s Workforce Development Council in 2007-8, it announced in its business plan. The workforce development body said the strategy would be informed by consultation with Connexions personal advisers, learning mentors and education welfare officers.
Other projects for 2007-8 include taking forward the workforce implications of the Care Matters children in care green paper and publishing new standards on foster care.
The CWDC also plans to monitor and support practice learning initiatives and social care training with the aim to reduce staff shortages and turnover in key parts of the children’s workforce.
