A suspected victim of child trafficking has gone missing from a Salford care home.

Police and social services are appealing for information about Tuan Nguyen (pictured), who is believed to be of Chinese or Vietnamese origin.

The boy, thought to be between the ages of 11 and 14, was taken into care after police found him while investigating the discovery of a cannabis farm in Swinton in June.

Police were unable to trace his family and Tuan was last seen on 9 September by staff at the care home where he was staying.

The boy does not speak much English and is described as about 5ft 4ins and of slim build, with cropped black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt and dark, possibly three-quarter length, trousers.

Detective Inspector Mark Radford from Salford CID said: "Tuan is a young boy in a country which is foreign to him and he does not speak very good English. We do not know at this stage whether he has any friends or family in this country and we are really concerned about his welfare. I would urge anybody who has seen him or who has any information whatsoever as to his whereabouts or background to call us and help us trace him and make sure he is getting the care he needs."

Police are appealing for information on Tuan and his whereabouts and are urging people to contact Salford CID on 0161 856 5351 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
