A Birmingham social worker has been struck off by the General Social Care Council for sharing information provided by an abuse victim with the alleged perpertrator.

Soloman Beckford admitted that the disclosure had put the service user, one of his colleagues and potentially himself at risk of serious harm. He also admitted giving false information about his employment history and experience on numerous occasions, including his application to the social care register.

The GSCC conduct committee decided that Beckford, who had worked in health and social care for 16 years, should have known never to disclose information from a victim of violence to the alleged perpetrator, even without having had domestic violence or child protection training.

Beckford, who can no longer work as a social worker, has the right to appeal to the independent Care Standards Tribunal.
