Couple's suicide over care home fears
A couple who had been married for 60 years killed themselves rather than face the prospect of being sent to different care homes.
The bodies of Tom Hughes, 82, a retired dentist, and his wife Nancie, 86, were discovered next to each other in their flat.

Rewards for good hospitals, action on failing schools
The government produced its draft legislative programme yesterday. It includes plans to reform pupil referral units for children excluded from mainstream education; to extend the right to request flexible working to parents of children aged six to 16; and to introduce individual budgets for NHS care for people with long-term conditions.
