The day before the tenth anniversary of Victoria Climbié's death, the foundation established in her name has added its voice to those calling for the full publication of serious case reviews.
"Publication will enable professionals to identify how failures happened within specific cases," Mor Dioum, Victoria Climbié Foundation director, told Community Care. "As we stated two years ago, there is very limited access to the reviews' findings by professionals."
Dioum added that the executive summaries published are too often vague and do not lead to an understanding of how events came about and what went wrong. He said he believed full publication, while maintaining the anonymity of those involved, was easily possible.
The foundation is hosting a memorial lecture tomorrow, the tenth anniversary of Victoria Climbié's death, at Westminster.
Dioum said: "On this landmark anniversary, we continue to remember Victoria. However, the time has come to move beyond a memorial and truly put her legacy into practice. VCF is determined to take its work forward as there remains a lot to be done around implementation."
Victoria Climbié died in hospital at the age of eight following months of cruelty and neglect from her great-aunt, Marie-Therese Kouao, and Kouao's boyfriend, Carl Manning.
The Victoria Climbié Foundation was set up by Victoria's parents.
