The former chair of the Prison Officers’ Association Andrew Darken has been charged with threatening behaviour and is due to appear in court tomorrow.

Darken allegedly threatened another member of the POA outside the union’s London offices last year.

Darken was the POA branch chair at the time of Zahid Mubarek’s death at Feltham Young Offender Institution in March 2000, and is due to give evidence to the Mubarek inquiry on staff-management relations on Wednesday.
