The family of eight-year-old Connor McCreaddie, who weighs over 14 stone, and North Tyneside local safeguarding children board made a formal agreement yesterday to tackle his weight problem.

In a statement yesterday, following a child protection conference, the board said its “hope and ambition is to enable this child to remain with his family”.

It added: “In order to move this matter forward we have made a formal agreement with the family to safeguard and promote the child’s welfare.”

Connor was featured in ITV’s Tonight programme on Monday, which looked at the issue of whether obesity was a child protection issue.
