Social care professionals must play an important role in promoting the sexual health rights of people with learning disabilities, the fpa (Family Planning Association) has said.
The charity has produced advice for practitioners including information on specific training and support as part of a new campaign.
The fpa says that a lack of acceptance of people with learning disabilities "as sexual beings" can stop them from exploring their own sexuality, starting relationships and having sex.
Posters with models from dating and relationships agency Stars in the Sky, a former Community Care Award-winner, is kicking off the campaign.
