The Children's Workforce Development Council has produced fresh guidance for children's practitioners and managers on working across agencies to better meet children's needs.
It has issued revised guidance on the lead professional role, under which a practitioner becomes the single point of contact across all agencies for children and their families, and the common assessment framework, the standard process for assessing children's needs.
Though the guides have not changed substantially, the new versions include new case studies, a list of skills helpful when taking on the lead professional role and guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office on meeting data protection requirements when sharing data.
Deirdre Quill, CWDC's director of workforce reform, said: “The CAF and lead professional are valuable tools to help keep children and young people safe.
"They help practitioners to identify children and young people’s needs early, and to work together to put preventative services in place. This can help children, young people and families get back on track and avoid a problem turning into a crisis.”
