A senior social worker has been cleared of bullying, an allegation included in an anonymous letter sent to the Scottish executive.

Angus Skinner, head of the Scottish Social Work Services Inspectorate, was accused of physically and verbally abusing staff and of failing to make an effective contribution to social work policy.

An executive spokesperson said the allegations had been fully investigated and nothing had been found to substantiate them.

Jim Dickie, president of the Association of Directors of Social Work, said he had full confidence in the inquiry's findings.
