Who has had the biggest influence on you?
My son Guy, the best teacher I've ever had.

Which health or social care professional has been of most use to you?
My first social worker, who arranged respite care and convinced me that parents can make a difference.

If you ran care services in your area what would you do differently?
Abolish eligibility criteria and adopt a person-centred approach to assessments.

Name one thing that would make your life better?
Not having to fight for everything.

What event most changed your life?
My son being diagnosed with Angelman syndrome in 1991.

Has any government policy ever benefited you personally?
No, but I hope the new Carers (Equal opportunities) Act will.

Who/what is your dream date?
Tony Blair. I'd love to get him to really listen.

Who are you going to vote for in the general election?
Does it really matter?

What is your greatest achievement?
My children and retaining my sense of humour.

What makes you happy?
Seeing my family happy and a large glass of red wine.

When did you last cry?
When Guy had a stomach bug. I lost my respite and my washing machine broke down all on the same day.

Who would you like to swap places with?
Guy, to understand what he really thinks.
