A former Surrey social worker jailed last year for underage sex has been barred from the social care register.

Thomas Mark Ritzler, 28, was jailed for two years and four months after being convicted last November of sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl, who was not a service user. He was placed on the sex offenders register for ten years.

A General Social Care Council conduct committee said sexual activity with a child was so fundamentally incompatible with being a social worker that it clearly called into question Ritzler's suitability to remain on the register.
