Salford Council is being sued by a foster mother who claims a sex offender was placed in her care without her knowledge.

The claim comes just weeks after the high court ruled foster parents could sue Essex Council in a separate case.

Carol Parkins claims Salford social workers failed to tell her a child placed in her care was a sex offender. The youth later allegedly abused a boy in her care.

A council spokesperson said: "This relates to incidents which took place several years ago. At the moment this is a matter we would refer to the courts."
