Drug misuse continues to rise, according to the latest government statistics. Heroin is still the most frequently reported drug used, accounting for almost 60 per cent of users. Cannabis is the second most frequently used drug at 11 per cent. The numbers of users presenting to drug misuse agencies is up 7 per cent to 30,545. About half of these users are in their 20s and one in seven is under 20. Men continue to outnumber women by three to one.
