Caring Choices

Mithran SamuelI thought I'd remind you all of the work of the Caring Choices coalition, launched last month to promote a public debate on the thorny subject of how to fund long-term care.
Despite the demographic realities of an ageing population and the increased lifespan of disabled people, public understanding of the potential costs of long-term care and the way the current system works remains low, something the 15 organisations in the coalition are aiming to correct.

The organisations include Age Concern , Help the Aged and research bodies the King's Fund and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation .
They are looking for people who work in social care to contribute to the process, either by attending one of their events or submitting their views online.
As the debate around this issue remains either invisible or refracted through the warped lens of the Daily Mail and Daily Express, it's vital that informed views are heard.
