The Care Leavers' Association has launched a social networking website for care leavers, allowing those who grew up in care to reconnect with people from their past living all over the world.

Victoria Hull, National Development Worker of the Care Leavers Association, said: "At the CLA we know that there are thousands of people all over the world, from teenagers to pensioners, searching to find those that they were in care with; we are confident that the new site will give them a good start in making that journey. We hope that, in time, not only in the UK but also across the world, tens of thousands of care leavers will find lost friends from their time in care."

Access to records

At a conference last month Will Macmahon, president of the Care Leavers Association, urged care leavers to contact their local authorities for their care records, particularly as it seems many are destroying the case files and records of children who've been in care. Macmahon said accessing his records was a cathartic experience which helped him make sense of himself and his past.
