Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, has been elected as chairman of the Children, Schools and Families Select Committee.

The role was previously held by Barry Sheerman, MP for Huddersfield.

Stuart’s top priorities in his role as MP have focused mainly on education, which may be a concern of the social care sector.

One of his top priorities has been access to good quality education for pupils in the Beverley and Holderness constituency. He has also said he will continue fighting to get more cash allocated to fund school pupils in the East Riding as well as pushing the government for money to be spent refurbishing or rebuilding schools such as Withernsea High.

The Children, Schools and Families Select Committee is expected to be renamed the Education Select Committee in the near future. So get ready to have that discussion again..
