My interest in social care began as a support worker in children's homes and homeless hostels before moving into journalism. After two years as a local newspaper reporter, I joined Community Care in 2008 and led the magazine's 2009 campaign, Stand Up Now for Social Work, to improve public perceptions of the profession through balanced and accurate media coverage.
