I have set myself a New Year's Resolution, and as with many of us who do this, it is focussed on improving something or achieving something in our personal lives. I was pleased therefore to read about Lauren Revans' resolution in this blog to be greener in the office. I always write my blog entry on a sheet or two of paper which is printed with something else on one side only, before typing it into my laptop. I have also chosen not to have a printer, which reduces the piles of paper I am responsible for. I wish Lauren well with her aims.

Having just edited our green issue I am left starting the year feeling a complete hypocrite (although suspect I am not alone on this one).

I’ve heard that the fires in Borneo’s jungles put more carbon dioxide in to the air in one day than the UK does in a year. If true (and the truth is very much up for grabs in this debate) it puts into perspective our efforts to drive our cars a little less or scientists’ bid to stop cows farting.
