“Current labour market position” ie unemployment is a more significant predictor of self harm among young people that parental social class or gender.

And the outcomes for people released from medium secure units into the community were not good, with high rates of suicide, reconviction and readmission to hospital.

Meanwhile, a US study has found that violence in schizophrenia patients may not necessarily be linked to their condition and is more likely in those who had childhood conduct disorders.

Blog of the day – why not check out the view from the health service in the Life in the NHS blog. Not strictly about mental health but some interesting thoughts about elderly care.
