ODD: teenagers drugged for answering back?

In the US, stroppy teenagers are getting tranquilized with psi drugs on the basis they have a condition called "oppositional defiant disorder" (ODD)according to an article on news site Alternet.

Apparently the symptoms of ODD include: "often actively defies or refuses to comply with adult requests or rules" and "often argues with adults." Sounds like most teenagers really. "How teenage rebellion has become a mental illness" is the title of the article - most disturbing.

Excerpts from what looks like a really interesting book about depression and mental health care are featured in the Times:

Also in the Times, climate change could be contributing to worsening mental health, mainly through the effects of extreme weather.
