I'm very pleased to say that our petition calling on The Sun to offer more balanced coverage of social work issues has now reached 4,000 signatures.
Thanks to everyone who has signed and if you haven't yet signed please do so - and send the link to your colleagues!

In terms of background, the petition follows a letter we sent to The Sun raising concerns about its Baby P coverage.

And in the last couple of days we have learned that its Baby P coverage has been shortlisted for a major media award.

Horrified at the unbalanced reporting and particularly naming of social workers. This is not helpful in an already difficult working environment.

A submission to a major media award for the Sun's coverage? It'd be interesting to see research on which is the favourite mass market newspaper for people convicted of offences against children.
