Just to update you on the latest from the Stand Up Now for Social Work campaign. We wrote to all the British Press Awards judges about the Sun's entry to the Campaign of the year award and picked up some coverage in The Independent as a result.
Perhaps it was just me but I found a great deal of the reporting of the Laming report quite heartening. 
There's a new blog on CareSpace by a social work student, who talks about her life and experience on her course. It's worth checking out.
Have been doing a lot of work on Community Care's campaign for fair treatment of social workers in the media recently, so haven't had much time for mental health blogging. I did spot these few items though.

New guidance on reporting suicide: learning from Bridgend

I saw first hand the devastating impact that the press coverage of the suicides of young people in the Bridgend area of Wales had on the whole community last year.

I've done an opinion piece for journalism.co.uk about how the coverage of social work issues in the media needs to improve, to tie in with our Stand Up Now for Social Work campaign.

Mad World doesn't get many opportunities to feature celebs in its posts, so I have grabbed this particular opportunity to feature a picture of Samantha Morton.
