Britain's Got Talent breakdancing pensioner and disability allowance

What on earth do you make of this story? The Daily Record reports that

Fred Bowers, 73, was claiming mobility and disability payments for a "bad leg" while stunning viewers with his moves.
Fred, from Nottinghamshire, has been ordered to pay back £3,000 but claims he has done nothing dishonest and was being overpaid as the result of a "mistake by the social".
Fred reached the semi finals of the talent show last year and according to the Record used the benefits to fund his love of clubbing "where he stunned revellers with his body-popping moves."

While Mad World would never condone claiming benefits you aren't entitled to - there is something particularly life-affirming about a 73-year-old whose latest trick apparently involves learning to spin on his nose.

What I make of the predominance of this genre of story is that tabloid newspapers would rather highlight fraud committed by benefit claimants than unjust adjudications of ESA entitlement.

Atos Medical Services 'Examining Medical Practitioners' lack training in autism and mental health conditions and thus the figures reported in newspapers on Wednesday 14 November represent a gross injustice to some of the economically most vulnerable members of society.
