Fiona Phillips stands up for social workers

GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips is the latest celeb to defend social workers, in her column in the Mirror.

She said:

"It's a wonder, following the Baby Peter case - during which they were vilified more than the perpetrators of the heinous crime - that they continue to perform their thankless tasks at all.

Does anyone ever mention the scores of children they save from lives of abuse or certain death?"

Good stuff.

Would it be wrong and probably wildly inaccurate to claim that our Stand Up Now for Social Work campaign, which aimed to improve the image of social workers in the media and was recently shortlisted for an award, was in some way responsible for this piece?

Yes, it probably would.

Will that stop me saying it anyway? No, it won't. Another success story for Community Care's Stand Up Now for Social Work Campaign! Hurrah!

Thank you for standing up for social workers and I agree totally with you that social workers save many children from abuse and hidden harm which no one ever witness. Reason these children not in the limelight because they are not in education and they abuse done in silence.
