Under the strapline "some cases should never be opened" a new horror film called Case 39, featuring Renee Zellweger, opens in the UK this week.
You can check out the trailer below but I can imagine many social workers could relate to Zellweger's weary sigh as her 39th case file (wow, that's some caseload!) is dropped down on her desk. Hopefully not too many social workers can relate to the rather improbable events which appear to follow. I can only imagine what the subsequent serious case review might say. Forget full publication, frankly I'd only want to read the summary.
During the film, Zellweger feels sorry for the young girl involved in the case and takes her back to her own home. How unprofessional - surely this should be the subject of a conduct hearing? However, sending a swarm of bees to attack her partner does seem a rather heavy-handed response by the GSCC - I would have thought an admonishment would have sufficed.
Anyway, make your own mind up but beware, horror imagery does lurk in the trailer below...
