Seldom does the letters page of the Daily Telegraph carry words of praise for social workers.

Today's edition of the newspaper bucks the trend with a contribution from District Judge Crichton, who describes the "pressing need" to improve the status of social workers.

Crichton has appeared in the Daily Telegraph before. A profile written in 2007 was headlined "The judge with children at heart", in which he described his work at a specialist family proceedings court in London.

Anyhow, sit back, suspend disbelief and bookmark for posterity. Activate the link and scroll down to "Cachet of social workers".
