Kim Bromley-Derry believes the fault lies with managers when it comes to disgruntled social workers. In a recent article in the Telegraph flagged up by Community Care blogger Simeon Brody, the chair of the Association of Directors of Children's Services said it was "not uncommon" for over-worked social workers to become vindictive.
Later, Bromley-Derry told Community Care, "It's an incredibly difficult job and I think the main responsibility lies with the managers, who need to keep up with how staff are feeling. Of course they can't change what happens on the job when social workers are faced with aggression when working with a family, but management needs to do what it can."
