Barry Waller

Interim senior recruitment adviser, Brent council

Barry was area manager on a community care local authority client team from 2000 to 2004, before becoming senior recruitment strategy adviser for Hackney social services. After that he became head of recruitment for Hackney. He is currently recruitment strategy adviser at Brent council, working on improving recruitment in adult and children’s social care.

Social worker

Zoë is a recently qualified social worker with almost two years’ local authority experience in both children’s and adult services, currently working as a care manager. She hosts an annual Confidence and Competence event to provide advice and support for students and newly qualified social workers.

Director of care at Supported Fostering Services (SFS)

Alan built up 35 years of frontline social work experience in local authorities before moving to the voluntary sector. He now regularly interviews social workers for posts at SFS, a charity and independent fostering provider. He is a British Association for Adoption and Fostering trustee and chair of Fostering Through Social Enterprise.
