Dear Deidre's positive influence at The Sun

The recent article by Sun agony aunt Deidre Sanders about the paper's survey on the problems with social work began with a pretty stark assertion: "Most of us believe there is a lot wrong with the social care system in this country."

Yet as I read on, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the content of the article.

The Sun claims responsibility for Baby P sackings

The Sun is claiming its petition led to the sacking of four Haringey council staff following the Baby P case.

It describes the removal of the staff as a "a victory" for its readers and asks why the council took so long to recognise public anger.

Its coverage makes no mention of the facts leading up to the dismissals.
