i work part time in early intervention in psychosis and part time in the CMHT, i work in a rural part of ruralshire.  we dont have a specialist team for working with aspergers syndrome we have an OT in a recovery team who works with people with aspergers as well as all his other work, he is finding it hard to do everything so  the psychiatrist suggested that someone else should step up and work with people with aspergers too,my problem with this is

1) no one is trained in working with people with aspergers syndrome we can work with the co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety management but social skills training and relationship stuff  (plus all the other stuff i know nothing about because i am not an expert) needs an expert and to not have one means the people we serve wont be getting a good service

2) we dont have the time to take on extra work

3) we should not be plugging gaps if there is an unmet need it needs to be highlighted and they should employ someone todo this work or start a specialist team not expect someone to take it on and do the background reading at home.

as you can tell i am a bit moody today

normal service should resume at some point !
