I have decided to write a blog. i hope people will bear with me as it is all new to me so i will be learmning as i go along. it might be alot of rambling at first until i find my feet but as someone said on the carespace forum concerning tv, if you dont like it turn it over or in the case of my blog don't bother to read it. i will occasionally include links to things i find interesting and useful, mostly concerning social care but also other things. Any feedback on my blog will be greatfully recieved I am a blog virgin after all.
I am about to start my third and final year of my social work degree on Monday and hope to write about how things go on the course. This year is divided up into two parts; the first part being in university, the second part in placement. As yet i do not know where i am going but i hope to work in a housing project for people with substance misuse problems and mental health issues. However we have little control over where we are sent so i will keep you posted as to where i end up.Then i will be qualified and unleashed on the world of work which i am very excited and a little bit nervous about.
These last two years have gone by incredibly quickly and i feel that i have grown so much in confidence and in knowledge, if i could do it all again i would and i am even thinking about doing a Masters when i have finished this year as i enjoy learning so much, Although i am well aware that every day of being a social worker will involve learning after all that is why they call us practising social workers isn't it ?!!!
I have managed to sort out all my student finace in good time and have applied for my bursary so hopefully it will not be too long before it comes through as my purse strings are strangling my purse. Unfortunatley my university has changed its rules this year regarding bursaries. i am eligble as i am a single parent and although it is not a great deal it certainly helps. the last two years the first part of the bursary has been paid into my bank a few weeks before the begining of term which has meant that i have had money to see me through until the student finance lands in my bank. it has meant not only can i buy my new pens and lunch box (
) but i have had money to get to uni and to feed me and my son. this year the university and the powers that be have decided not to pay the first payment until December this means that I am going to struggle to find my train fare to uni let alone pay my rent or eat. I wonder if they have thought about this and realise that there will be a lot of students struggling for the first few weeks, probaly not....
Anyhow this is Lizzer signing out for now see you soon and thanks for reading....
