Interim research out today from the Local Government Association and the Equality and Human Rights Commission finds there is no evidence of bias against UK-born people in the allocation of social housing.
Key findings include that new migrants to the UK over the past five years make up 3% of the population but 2% of those in social housing, 90% of social housing residents are UK born and 60% of new migrants are in private rented accommodation.
With the local and London elections just weeks away - and the BNP apparently on the march - this research is well-timed.
