The UK government is offering employers across England, Wales and Scotland £1,000 for every apprentice they take on in adult social care.
Ministers believe the scheme will help strengthen capacity in the sector while tackling the grim unemployment statistics for young people, which are approaching one million. (Care First Careers is only open to recruits aged 16-24 who have been claiming Jobseekers' Allowance for more than six months.)
