This bailout is bad. BAD. And we should all be up in arms about it. I'm not going to harp here, because between two blogs I regularly read, I can vicariously offer links and rants galore on the matter. So I will link to them and offer you this anecdote:
The Geek was playing poker yesterday and a few people were bitching about the $700 Billion price tag on this mess.
Let's take a moment and digest that number:
Seven hundred billion dollars. That's a seven with ELEVEN zeros:
$700,000,000,000
That right there should be enough to make you crazy. And who's fitting the bill? That would be the U.S. taxpayer, at an average of $2,000 per person.
Back to the story:
Geek got a bit fired up and told people they needed to vote Democratic because it was the Repugs that got us in this mess to begin with (Read: Deregulation. 80's. Reaganomics.) Their response after some snorting at his asinine suggestion? They can't do that because they don't want gays to be able to get married. Plus they want to be able to keep their guns. Yes. I'm serious.
