I Saw a Proposition 8 Protest
Bookmark and Share
In Las Vegas this past weekend.  I was out for a walk and happened to cruise right by them when they were gathered in front of city hall (this was a much smaller group than the one that apparently gathered on the strip).  At the time I had no idea what it was about, although the rainbow flags clued me in to the fact that it was a gay and lesbian issue--I assumed it was a local battle of some kind.  My plan was take advantage of the photo op once I was done exercising, but by the time I went back they were gone.

I was able to catch a few of them heading to their cars and asked about the protest.  They enlightened me and told me it was just one of scores happening nation-wide that day.

Turns out the rest were marching down Freemont Street.  And their cause seems to make people a might uncomfortable.

Most people just stared.  Some shook their heads.

I heard one guy ask a friend: "What are they trying to accomplish?"

(Hmmmm....Gee, I dunno.  Maybe getting a chance to marry the one they love? Just because the issue went down in one state doesn't mean it's a lost cause forever and ever, amen. )

And then I saw a guy mime using a machine gun and gunning them down.

Nice. ->
