1) I'm just going to lay it out there:
We're so screwed.
Read this. And then you shall understand my highly optimistic take on current affairs. If you're not inclined to read let me give you the highlights: The Dow dipped below 8,000 on Wednesday. No company left unscathed, including Berkshire Hathaway. What's more, apparently there's no end in sight. And now congress is thinking about loosening the noose on company pension plan requirements.
Screwed.
2) On a personal front, our health insurance was going to go up 27% in 2009. The Geek's company wasn't willing to sack their employees with this increase, so they changed providers after shopping for a cheaper alternative. Now it's only going up 19%. This is how they get you, right? "Oh! ONLY nineteen percent? What a bargain!"
3) Preview! I'm incredibly thankful for my legs this week. I met yet another young person, under forty, left without the use of his limbs as a result of a debilitating illness.*
4) Teaser! I hate having to hospitalize kids.
