Dear Kid,
Warm holiday greetings from Santa Clause Enterprises! I hope your season is going well thus far. This time of year is quite busy, of course, but I want you to know you are important to all of us here at SCE, especially me.
I do not generally answer letters directly before Christmas morning, but my head elf in Outreach forwarded this to me and thought I needed to make an exception in your case. It may surprise you to learn I actually read your letter. You're right to be surprised; my Correspondence Department generally takes care of them on my behalf. However, since a copy of your letter landed in your parent's hands via your principal after it made its way to my company, I felt I should give this one my full attention.
I try to be accomadating with items on wish lists. I really do. I've had some--interesting--requests over the years from children with various tastes, desires and needs. But I feel perhaps you have lost site of the meaning of the season given your request this year. This time of year is about family, friends, love and peace. I try my best to spread that love annually to children all over the globe. I ask absolutely nothing in return except for people to treat each other with dignity and respect. Should people choose to leave me chocolate, chocolate chip cookies on December 24 coupled with some milk, I certainly do not complain.
Son, I can not be certain that you will be respectful of others with this particular item. You will not understand this now, I am certain, but it would be a grossly irresponsible act on my part to give it to you. Therefore I am telling you in advance that after careful consideration and thoughtful deliberation I am not going to grant your wish. You will need to ask for something other than an AK-47 this year.
My best to your family and hoping your season is blessed.
Most Sincerley,
Santa
