Salon has an abridged account of the last eight years under Shrub and his ilk.

Some highlights and highly uplifting numbers to take you into the weekend:

National Debt: $10.6 trillion

Number of manufacturing jobs lost since 2000: 3.78 million

Number of bridges structurally deficient: 70,000

Amount of money earned by a married with children US Army sergeant per day in Iraq in 2007: $170

A Blackwater contractor?: $600

Number of detainees who have died in US Custody: Nearly 100

Cost to produce the war per month: 12 billion.  That would be dollars, not Colombian pesos.

Cost to repair New Orleans levees: 1 billion.  That would be dollars, not Colombian pesos. And then there's no guarantee they'll hold should another Katrina come a'knockin'.

Difference in the average cost of prescription drugs in 1997 and 2007: From $35.72 to $69.91

Number of Americans with no health insurance: 46 million

Increase in the amount the average worker pays for employer sponsored health insurance since 2000: 120%.

Days left of the Pretender: 11.  Thank God it's almost over.

Have a great weekend! ->
