I had the perfect entry in my head last night as I was drifting off to sleep, and for the life of me I can't recall it . I attribute this either to 1) a brain tumor 2) the position of Saturn in the seventh house or 3) memory trolls who visit during the night. Certainly it has nothing to do with my age.
So today is Valentine's Day Eve. For all intents and purposes, it's Valentines Day for the kids in elementary school. The Diva's class is decorating cookies during their party this afternoon and I offered to be one of the providers of said cookies. Last night we made these. (If you're looking for the perfect sugar cookie, I think these are it. The only modification I made to the recipe was adding some vanilla.) They were a mess, of course. Any cookie which involves rolling out dough on the counter coupled with loose, powdery edibles is a potential bonanza for pandemonium. Three dozen hearts later, we were done. After they baked and cooled, I methodically bagged them in nice stacks of four to ready them for travel this morning.
Naturally, I left them sitting on the kitchen counter.
The Diva chose to make her Valentine cards this year, which was great because they kept her busy for a few days. Card stock, stamps, sparkly markers and a six-year-old imagination. What could be better? Last night we did a final count right before she went to bed and....
Can you guess?
She was one short.
We got up early this morning so she would have time to make that one last card, which she did.
Of course, the Diva left the whole bag of them on the kitchen table.
And I still can't remember my idea for today's entry. ->
