Damn it.

All these pop culture figures from my wayward youth are dropping like flies.

John Hughes, the director of such Gen Xer classics as Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science, Ferris Beuller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club died yesterday at the tender age of 59.

Any self-respecting person who came of age in the era of Reagonomics and drum machines has a favorite. Ferris was a classic, of course (he was the Sausage King of Chicago, you know) but I was always partial to The Breakfast Club. I had the soundtrack and wore. It. Out. I unceremoniously tossed the tape in a garage sale a few years back, and now, of course, I regret that. Thank God for Youtube. Now I need to engage in some digital espionage, because this soundtrack is hard to find. The Geek found some nifty software that allows one to record music off the interwebs, so I'll have to get him to set me up.

I'll close with music. And although the tone of this entry would lead you to believe I'm going to give you some funky 80's electronic instrumental from the Breakfast Club, I'm not!

Nope. I'm going to try a little tenderness.
