Hey guys,
Have you had an interview at Uni of Birmingham? If so, what is the interview structure? And what kinds of questions do they ask?
Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Sally
Hi Sally,
I haven't had an interview there but I know somebody that has. She said that it was mostly an informal chat about why you want to go into social work and what your experiences could bring. Also she was given a case scenario about 10mins before the interview and asked to pick out the key issues. She didn't seem to find it particularly stressful and there were no surprises!
Have you recently had an invite for an interview? Only I had a letter from Birmingham saying that I am on some kind of reserve list as the places had been filled due to the amount of applications. Did you have any such letter? My chances of getting an interview are getting slimmer :-(
Amy
Hi Amy,
Thanks for replying. My interview is tomorrow. And no, I have not had a letter like that. Dont loose hope. I bet not everyone will accept their place.
Sally.
I'm there in the morning as well!
A little nervous now!
Hi Amy and Sally,
I had my interview in January. You are given a set time to analyse a case study which forms the main bulk of the interview discussion. I found the time went by very quickly. Be warned the case study is meaty but easy to understand. They added a little pressure at the beginning telling you they will stop you talking after 15 minutes irrespective of whether you've answered all their questions! The whole process went by in a flash. They were very approachable.
I have accepted the place at UoB. Good luck and maybe we'll meet in September.
